Our Flag business was created in honor of my older brother, Army Cpl Pruitt A. Rainey, who was KIA on July 13, 2008, in Wanat Afganistan in the Battle of Wanat.

At Gold Star Flags, we honor the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of Gold Star Families, Military Families, Veterans, and First Responders. Our mission is to celebrate their service and dedication to our nation, recognizing the profound impact they have made and continue to make.

No flag should be forgotten. Retired flags are handled with the honor they deserve. Through our partnership with Music Funeral Service Azalea Crematory in Valdosta, GA, each flag is properly disposed of alongside a veteran — a fitting tribute to both our nation's symbol and those who served under it.

'11 Days and a Wake Up' is a real true life documentary about The Chosen Few and The Battle of Wanat where 9 soldiers were Killed in Action and 27 others seriously wounded. Chosen Company is part of the US Army's 173rd Air borne, 503rd Infantry, 2nd Battalion, Fort Benning Georgia. With only 11 days left in their 15 month combat deployment

Our team is also happy to answer any questions about flag display and care.

When a flag becomes worn or damaged beyond repair, it should be disposed of respectfully. Many veterans organizations and Boy Scout troops conduct flag retirement ceremonies where flags are folded and burned in a dignified manner. You can contact your local American Legion post, VFW chapter, or Scout troop to inquire about flag retirement services in your area. This honors the flag's service and significance.

As part of our commitment to honoring the flag, we've partnered with Music Funeral Services in Valdosta, GA to ensure that every flag we retire is disposed of with the utmost dignity and respect — in the presence of a veteran who honors its service.

Flag size depends on your flagpole height and the distance from which it will be viewed. A general rule is that the flag's length should be 1/4 of the flagpole height. For example, a 20-foot pole typically uses a 5x8 foot flag. We recommend consulting our sizing guide or contacting our team for personalized recommendations based on your specific flagpole and location.

Yes, you can gently clean your flag. Hand wash it in cool water with mild soap, then rinse thoroughly and air dry completely before flying it again. Avoid using harsh chemicals, bleach, or machine washing, as these can damage the fabric and stitching.
